Mountain Bike Trails in Stratford & Area

In the wide world of mountain biking Stratford is challenged with the lack of exciting terrain.Despite this challenge, people from the area make a great effort to make things fun.Within the city limits of Stratford are two small unendorsed areas.

The first area is called T.J. Dolan Natural Area and is located in Stratford's west end along the Avon River.A couple of kilometres of riding can be had at a price. The Stratford Parks Boards feels it has a great need to disperse its excess bark and tree chips on the trails.Sometimes new trails appear and the bikers have a few weeks fun on them and the bark chip monster comes along to slow things down. The positive side of the bark chip dilema is that it takes twice the effort to ride on and is very good for training purposes.T.J.Dolan is at its best in the winter time when the trails have hard packed snow on them.

The other spot is known as the Dragon's Drop and is located at the eastern border of the Stratford Country Club. This little area is full of small loops that can have some challenging twists to it.One has to combine his choice of a combination of loops to reaally make a ride of it.This area would be ideal for a North Shore style ramp area if some guys could get it together.

The best way to get a nice ride in within the city is to link these two places together with an urban and or park system between the two.

The Stratford area's best cross country riding place is at Wildwood Conservation Area near St.Marys.Within the parks borders are many kilometres of trails including the main trail that goes around the lake. Also one could try out parts of the Avon trail between Fairview and Wildwood.Check out the maps in our trail links and maps section.

Within a 45 minute drive are some decent trails that are listed on Mountain Bike Review and other trail links on our trail links and maps page. The best reviewed area is the Hydro Cut east of Waterloo that has some great cross country terrain and also a couple of North Shore ramps for the wackos.Other decent trails are the Pines(Woodstock),Chicopee(Kitchener),Boler Mountain(London) and Fanshaw Lake(London).Happy Trails
